We Study Thousands Of Entrepreneurs So You Can Become a Better One
courben.co exists to provide meaningful mental health support to entrepreneurs through the power of research. We conduct rigorous psychological and behavioural analysis to understand the entrepreneurial mind — the pressures it faces, the patterns it develops, and the breaking points it reaches. By studying thousands of founders across industries, we uncover the emotional and cognitive realities of building a business, and translate that research into honest, evidence-based content that helps entrepreneurs recognise what they are going through, why it is happening, and what they can do about it.
What We Are (And What We're Not)
We are a business psychology intelligence platform. That means we take the science of how the human mind works and apply it specifically to the experience of building and running a business. We are not therapy, not coaching, not another influencer — we are a research publication for people who want to understand their own minds well enough to live a better entrepreneurial life.
Peer-Reviewed Research Foundation
Every article we publish is grounded in peer-reviewed research from cognitive neuroscience, behavioural economics, organisational psychology, and clinical studies. Every claim can be traced to a source. We cite sample sizes, flag preliminary findings, and acknowledge when evidence contradicts itself. This is research-grade content, not recycled motivational stories.
Rigorous Research Process
We conduct our own research before every article. We source primary studies, check replication status, note sample sizes, and look for contradictory evidence. Our research goes directly to the original studies, evaluating evidence quality and ensuring every claim is supported by credible scientific sources rather than surface-level interpretations.
Ethical Standards & Boundaries
Every piece of content is reviewed against ethical standards that ensure we stay on the right side of the line between education and clinical practice. We use population-level language rather than individual diagnosis. We include disclaimers not as legal protection but as honest acknowledgement of what an article can and cannot do. We are not therapy — we are education.
AI Production Tool
We're transparent about where we use AI: in the writing stage to ensure consistency. This allows our small team to publish consistent articles every week that are all of the same quality. AI enables us to apply the same editorial standard — the same structure, depth, tone, and ethical rigour — to every single article without variance. Article 200 holds to exactly the same standard as article one. But the research is ours, the standards are ours, and every article is read, edited, and approved by a human editor before publication.
Editorial Independence
courben.co is an independent platform. We are not funded by pharmaceutical companies, coaching programmes, or anyone with a financial interest in how you interpret your own psychology. We never take your money. We have no paid services, no subscriptions, no premium tiers. All we want is to provide content that genuinely helps you. Our content exists to inform, not to sell you a solution. We take entrepreneurs seriously as intelligent adults who deserve honest, research-grade information about their own minds — completely free, every time.
Understanding, Not Fixing
Our purpose is understanding — not fixing, not treating, not optimising. When you read an article here and think "that's exactly what's been happening to me, and now I know why," something shifts. The pattern becomes visible. The self-criticism softens. The decision that felt impossible becomes a little more navigable. That is what we are here for.
Why courben.co?
We genuinely care about entrepreneurs. Not because it sounds good to say, but because the reality of what they go through is something most people never talk about. The business world has spent decades celebrating the wins, the exits, the revenue milestones, and somewhere along the way completely forgot about the human being behind all of it. Mental health barely gets a mention, and when it does it gets dressed up in productivity language or reduced to a morning routine tip. But the truth is that a huge number of businesses do not fail because of a bad product or poor marketing. They fail because the person building it quietly fell apart while everyone was watching the metrics. The self-doubt, the anxiety, the isolation, the stretches of burnout that feel impossible to explain to anyone who has not been there. These things are not character flaws. They are what happens when you take on something genuinely hard without anyone telling you what it actually does to your mind. That is the gap courben.co is trying to fill.
The Hidden Cost of Entrepreneurship
Research shows that entrepreneurs are 50% more likely to report having a mental health condition compared to non entrepreneurs. Studies reveal that 72% of entrepreneurs struggle with mental health issues directly related to their business ventures, with depression and anxiety being the most prevalent. The constant pressure to succeed, financial uncertainty, and isolation of leadership contribute to alarmingly high stress levels. Business owners are twice as likely to suffer from depression and three times more likely to experience substance abuse. These statistics paint a sobering picture of the psychological toll that uninformed, trial and error approaches to business can take on founders.
The Brutal Reality of Success Rates
Only 10% of startups succeed long term, while 90% fail within their first five years. These devastating statistics create immense psychological pressure on entrepreneurs who measure their self-worth against impossible odds. When entrepreneurs fail to achieve their goals despite exhaustive effort, the mental toll is profound: feelings of inadequacy, shame, depression, and loss of identity often follow. The gap between entrepreneurial aspirations and reality triggers severe emotional distress, with many founders internalizing failure as personal deficiency rather than recognizing the systemic challenges they face. This psychological burden compounds when entrepreneurs compare themselves to the rare success stories, creating a cycle of self-doubt and diminished mental health that makes future attempts even more challenging.

We care deeply about your journey, and while we can't walk the path for you, we'll do everything in our power to light the way forward with compassion, integrity, and research you can trust.
Message from the Founder of courben.co
Growing up I've always wondered what am I good at in life. Not sports, not singing, not art, nothing. Despite my genuine interest in all multiple sectors, I lacked the skills and talent. Yet there was always one thing about me that I was proud of, my level of compassion. It may sound simple but as a man I've grown up helping others as the smile on ones face enlightened mine and made me feel proud. So why not combine my heart full of love with business in which I also adore? My mum told me when I was younger everyday I would cry if she wasn't with me no mater what. So now I reflect on that and I will cry if you guys leave me (kidding). I've always wondered if I should be a therapist or psychologist but I also wanted to be a sexy rich businessman, so I'll do both. Ultimately, I just want to shape the business world in a more positive light, and make it less bloody hard.
